Overcoming our inner fears of cloud computing

I recently added two posts to IBM’s Thoughts On Cloud blog. The first post, “Three reasons you shouldn’t fear the cloud,” repeats stories told to me at Pulse 2014 by one of my clients, Gus Ortiz of Jenzabar. Three of his clients had the opportunity to leverage the cloud to help recover from a disaster, but none of them did. He asked me to try to figure out why these institutions fear the cloud. In the second post, “Overcoming institutional fears of cloud computing,” I attempt to answer this question. In brief, I consider four fears and the reasons to overcome them.

  • Fear of the Unknown
  • Fear of losing control
  • Fear of being violated
  • Fear of becoming obsolete

Check out the posts and let me know about the inner fears you observe.
